Rhapis is a genus of small palms native to S.E. Asia from southern Japan and southern China to Thailand. They are most commonly known as lady palms. They are considered fan palms and form bamboo-like clumps with the trunks covered with a net-like fibrous sheath. Several species are cultivated as ornamental plants, of which rhapis excelas being the most common. Rhapis excelsa (southern china) grows slowly up to 12' - 14' tall. With its columnar growth habit and stately appearance, it is one of the finest house plants. Rhapis do best in medium to bright indirect light and require regular watering. Our availability includes 3, 5, 7 and 10 gallon sizes. Periodically, we have 20 and 25 gallon architectural specimens. |
