~ Kentias ~

The kentia palm (howea forsteriana) is indigenous to lord Howe island in the South Pacific. This palm is cultivated on the island by collecting the seeds and germinating them before export wordwide as either an ornamental garden or house plant. The international trade in seeds and seedlings is tightly regulated. This feather palm is an elegant plant and has been popular for growing indoors since victorian times. Outdoors, the plant is usually seen as a solitary palm (single trunk up to 60' tall by 20' wide with leaves 9' long). Indoors they tend to be in multiple trunk groupings. They are slow growing. In the yard/garden, they tolerate full sun to bright shade. Indoors, the kentia is very adaptable, requiring little light, but thriving in bright indirect. Indoors or outdoors, this palm requires regular irrigation. Our inventory is mainly shade-grown material and not for immediate use in full sun outdoors. We stock the following sizes: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 20 gallon.
