Dracaena

Dracaena is a genus of approximately 40 species of trees and succulent shrubs. The majority are native to africa and nearby islands, with a few found in southern asia and one from tropical central america. Dracaenas are divided into two groups: one, of tree-size species with stout trunks and stiff, broad leaves, growing in arid areas and are known, collectively, as dragon trees. The second are a group of smaller, shrubby species with slender stems and flexible strap-shape foliage. they grow as understory plants in rainforests. They are known as shrubby dracaenas. These species are very popular as houseplants. due to their durability, many have been hybridized and comprise the majority of the dracaenas used in the home and office today. All of these dracaenas are very easy to care for. (with the exception of the marginata, marginata bi-color and 'song of india'), and all tolerate low-light conditions. Every dracaena needs to be watered well, and then allowed to dry out before their next watering. Normally, the following dracaenas are available: fragrans, "janet craig', janet craig compacta', "lemon lime', ' lisa', marginata, marginata bi-color, massangeana,' michiko', 'song of india' and 'warneckii'. Sizes vary according to availability, but we usually have a selection in; 4", 6", 8", 3gal and 5gal. Larger sizes may be available through special order.
